These snakes were fascinating. There must have been 50 of them hanging in a tree above a pond. They would coil up like the one in the background and strike the water, coming up with a fish. They very seldom missed. The one in the foreground has a fish inside where the flat spot is in his body.

It was Free Wednesday when we went to the museum, and everybody and his mother was there. The line was about 1/4 mile long when we got there, but it moved quickly and we were happy we got there so early. After we had been there a couple of hours we noticed that they were only letting people in as other people left. I have to say that it was worth it, because it's almost $30.00 a person to get in. The museum was closed for a few years while they tore down the old building and put in this new state of the art building with a big parking garage underneath. It has a green roof with thousands of plants and it's very energy efficient. As well as having a planaterium, it has an aquarium, a rainforest and several other things. We all had a really good time here.

I haven't posted here for a while because I've been really busy at work and just trying to survive the end of the school year. Today I took a group of 5th graders to Lake Solano Park for a field trip. It poured rain the whole time we were there. The poor kids were on nature hikes and learning about the water shed. By the time they got back to the bus they were soaking wet and very muddy, cold and hungry. I let them eat their lunch on the bus because there was no shelter for them and all the picnic tables were out in the open and very wet. I spent the morning on the bus but just as we were getting ready to leave, I stepped out of the bus to take these two pictures.

Here are a few pictures I took at the Dixon May Fair. We take bus loads of our special kids to the fair every year and they have so much fun. For privacy reasons, I didn't take any pictures of kids that could be identified and I basically stuck to quilts and animals. I had to take this first picture. I was hungry and who can resist fair food!

This quilt caught my eye, too.

I loved this tribute to the Beatles quilt.

This one reminded me of Hawaii.

I've been really busy the last couple of weeks with work and reading some great books on my Kindle. I love this invention. It has helped me break my tv habit and I'm really enjoying reading more than the occasional magazine article and the daily newspaper. A few days ago I finished the novel, "Rooms" by James L. Rubart. I would compare his style of writing suspense to Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti. It was a very good book and I enjoyed it very much. Now I'm reading "Son of Hamas" by Mosab Hassan Yousef with Ron Brackin. It is the story of Mosab's journey from being the son of one of the founding members of Hamas and a Muslim to accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior. It is a facinating book and very hard to put down.

On another note, I've gone to the Loomis Quilt Guild Tea and Quilt show and the Dixon May Fair in the last two weekends. The next several days I will post pictures of some of the beautiful quilts I saw there. But first a picture of the biggest rabbit I've ever seen at the Dixon May Fair.

This rabbit is a French Lop and it was as big as a medium sized dog! I think it probably weighed 20 lbs.

This is not the last day of anniversary pictures! This was one of the views out our timeshare window. We were on the 7th floor. If you look close, about 1/2 inch from the South Point sign, you can see the Stratesphere. It's that pointy thing in the distance.

This is the South Point Casino next door all lit up. It was a fun place. As well as the casino, it had an equestrian center, a bowling alley, a movie theater, restaurants and a bingo hall. We got to use Mike's senior discount at the movie theater and went to three movies for a total cost of $18.00 for the two of us.

We also got to go see Terry Fator. (He is the ventriloquist that does singing impressions that won America's Got Talent.) Because we went to our time share update, we got two tickets for $20.00.

I also got a lot of cutting done on some of my quilt projects and we just had a great time being together.

That is a lemon my darling husband is holding in his hand. They were bigger than grapefruit. This was a fruit stand outside of Pompeii, Italy.
They make great lemoncello there. It's a liquer they make by soaking the lemon rinds in vodka or 98 proof alcohol.

St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City. To the far right of the picture, the rectangular roof line is the Sistine Chapel and where they send out the smoke to declare a new pope has been elected. The Vatican has it's own post office and the stamps are not good anywhere in Italy except in Vatican City since the Vatican is considered it's own country and not part of Italy at all. When I sent you the first post cards they had the Vatican Stamp and postmark.

The famous Spanish Steps at 6:30 am. This was our first day in Italy and we hadn't met our tour group yet. We got up early and took a six mile walk. On our walk we saw the Piazza del Popolo, the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, the Piazza Navona, the Ponte dei St. Angelo, the Castle St. Angelo, and Saint Peter's Cathedral in the Vatican.

This is our last night in Italy at the Spanish Steps about 8:00pm. Everyone was out for their little passigiata. To see and be seen.
